Tutoring
Tutors
Tutors are academically successful upper-level School of Mines students who have completed the courses they are tutoring and are familiar with the instructors’ expectations. They enjoy helping fellow students understand their subjects. Information regarding what subjects Tech Learning Center (TLC) tutors are qualified to tutor will be found on the Tutors' Areas of Expertise Chart (see link below). Tech Learning Center Outreach (TLCO) is provided fall and spring semesters by ResLive and is available to students living in Connolly Hall, Palmerton Hall, and Peterson Hall.

Tech Learning Center (TLC)
The Tech Learning Center (TLC) provides free tutoring in all core subjects – math, chemistry, computer science, English (grammar and composition), and physics, as well as biology and other subjects depending upon the tutors’ area of expertise. The primary focus is on core subjects at the 100 and 200 levels. However, in addition to tutoring core subjects, tutors often have a variety of subjects and levels that they are qualified to tutor.
The TLC is located on the lower level of the Devereaux Library--room 110, next to the elevator. Although the TLC tutoring service is geared to School of Mines students, any student enrolled in South Dakota universities is welcome to receive tutoring at the TLC. By using the TLC several times during the day or week, students will find the tutors and times that work best for them. Study aids such as computers, textbooks, and study guides are also available for student use in the TLC.
